Set general preferences

The General tab lets you set preferences that apply to all modules of Color Profiler Suite.

Automatically check for updates

The Updater checks for updates of the software and documentation on the EFI web site and allows you to download and install them. You can set a preference to determine how often the Updater runs.

  1. In Color Profiler Suite, click Edit > Preferences.
  2. Click the preferred frequency in the Automatically check for updates list.
    • Every time - The Updater runs whenever you open Color Profiler Suite.
    • Monthly - The Updater runs whenever you open Color Profiler Suite if more than a month has passed since the last check.
    • Never - The Updater does not run automatically. You can run the Updater manually.

Set dE calculation method preferences

There are many ways to calculate dE, the numerical difference between two colors. You can use the Preferences tab to set how Color Profiler Suite calculates dE. (People also refer to dE as Delta E, also written as ΔE.)

Tolerance values are in units of dE and the calculation method: for example, 0.5 dE 94.

You can set which method Color Profiler Suite uses to interpret all dE values that you specify in Color Profiler Suite.

  1. In Color Profiler Suite, click Edit > Preferences.
  2. Click one of these calculation methods in the dE Calculation Method list:
    • dE ab - The standard CIE method. The color difference is the distance between the two colors, calculated in three-dimensional Lab color space.

    • dE 94 - A variant of CIELAB that CIE TC1-29 recommends as the color difference formula. For graphic arts applications, this method uses K1 = 0.045 and K2 = 0.015.

    • dE 2000 - A variant of CIELAB that CIE recommended in 2000. This method uses KL = KC = KH = 1.0.

    • dE CMC - The ratio of differences in lightness to chroma and to hue calculated using the ISO standard ISO 105-J03. Values for lightness and chroma weights are 1.0 for use with perceptibility data.

Set the reference for test page control bar

In Fiery Color Profiler Suite, you can print a test page to check your results. For example, when you create a new profile, you can print a test page using the new profile. The CMYK reference used for the control bar on the test page is set in Preferences. You can choose from several international references.

  1. In Color Profiler Suite, click Edit > Preferences.
  2. Click the reference in the Control bar definition list.

Set Color Profiler Suite version

If your computer has multiple versions of Color Profiler Suite installed on your computer, you can set which version to use when you open Color Profiler Suite from Command WorkStation.

When Command WorkStation and Color Profiler Suite are installed on the same computer, you can open a Color Profiler Suite module from within Command WorkStation to perform various tasks. For example, you can select a job in Command WorkStation and open Fiery Color Verification Assistant to perform color verification of the job.

If multiple versions of Color Profiler Suite are installed on your computer as well as Command WorkStation v5.4 or later, you can set an option in Color Profiler Suite to determine which version of Color Profiler Suite to open.

Note: A message appears when you open Color Profiler Suite from Command WorkStation for the first time.
  1. In Color Profiler Suite, click Edit > Preferences.
  2. Click the preferred version in the list.
