Create a spot color alias

An alias creates a fixed link between two spot colors with different names, and ensures that both use the same color values.

Before you begin, make sure you have added a custom spot color.

You can create an alias to an existing custom spot color or a spot color from the internal spot color library. If the alias is a custom spot color, you can edit the color values, which changes the color output of both spot colors.

You can edit the gradation and transparency values of either spot color independently.

  1. Under My Custom Spot Colors, select a spot color.
  2. On the Color Definition tab, under Use as alias for, click the ... button.
  3. In the table, select the spot color that you want to alias.

Use the search function to help you find the spot color more easily.

  4. Click Use Selection.
You can also remove an alias in the Select Alias dialog box.
