Set up Verifier for color verification

To verify color accuracy, you must select a reference, and define acceptable dE tolerances. The reference can be characterization data, a simulation profile, or measurement values from a different printout.

  1. Start Verifier, click Preferences, and click the General tab.
  2. Select a control bar.

    You can also select a custom control bar by clicking Add (+). The following table shows which type of control bar is suitable for each reference:

  3. Select a characterization data set.

    If you also select Load characterization data automatically, Verifier automatically checks the measured values against the reference when you have measured the control bar. You do not have to search for the characterization data set manually.

  4. Under User interface, select Enable measurement approval (optional)

    Jobs are verified as color accurate only if all color measurements are within the defined tolerance limits. By enabling measurement approval, you can force a pass result if some dE values are marginally exceeded.

  5. Click the Comparison Settings tab. Under Tolerance limits, define the highest acceptable error margin when verifying the color accuracy of the printout against a reference. Do one of the following:
    • Select a tolerance preset for a recognized standard. You can also modify preset values.

    • Define custom tolerance limits (house standard) by editing the default values.

      Select Use for dynamic wedge (optional). To verify a dynamic wedge, you can define only dE tolerances. Other values are not permitted due to the unique composition of the color patches for each job.

  6. Click Normative or Informative for each tolerance limit.

    The buttons affect job verification as follows:

    Normative

    Normative values are evaluated. If any of the measurements lie outside the specified range of tolerance, indicates that the result is not satisfactory and the verification fails.

    Informative

    Informative values are evaluated for reference purposes only and have no effect on whether the job passes or fails verification. Thus, an overall pass result can be achieved, even if an informative value exceeds the defined tolerance limits.

    Off

    If you select Off, the tolerance limit is not evaluated, and it is not included in the evaluation.

  7. Select Show preset in XF Client (optional).

    This setting makes the preset available for selection in a workflow that is set up for color verification.

  8. Click Save (optional).

    This setting saves custom tolerance limits as a preset.
