Switch to a different print engine

You can switch to a different PDF or image EPS/PDF print engine. The image EPS/PDF print engine determines whether jobs are output with the internal EFI module or with CPSI.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In Server Manager: On the sidebar, click Printers, and select a printer. In the printer's tree view, select a workflow. On the File tab, expand the PS/EPS/PDF panel.

    • In Job Editor: On the File tab, expand the PS/EPS/PDF panel.

  2. Under PDF print engine, select Adobe PostScript 3 Engine or Adobe PDF Print Engine.
  3. Under Image EPS/PDF print engine, select an item.
    • Native—Outputs a single EPS image, but not the surrounding PDF frame. This provides quicker processing and better output quality since, if the image is an RGB image, Command WorkStation applies the selected source profiles. This feature is mainly for users who print directly from Photoshop.

    • Adobe PostScript 3 Engine—Outputs a job with the surrounding PDF frame. Command WorkStation applies this setting automatically if the job contains more than one EPS image.

  4. Click Save.
